Custom colored lavastone tiles are available for projects over 1000 square feet. The tiles are priced per piece. These tiles are handpainted on a lava stone base which is very durable for floor and freeze thaw applications. You can send us a color reference and we will do our best to match it with our glazes. Samples only available with a confirmed order.
Commercial Custom Color Development
BelTile offers custom glaze and color development for commercial,
hospitality, luxury residential, and architectural projects requiring
large production quantities.
Unlike selecting a standard color from our existing collections,
developing an entirely new ceramic color is a specialized process that
requires laboratory testing, multiple kiln firings, production trials,
and quality verification before manufacturing can begin.
This Service Is Intended For
Commercial and hospitality projects
Architectural specifications
Luxury residential developments
Developers, architects and interior designers
Projects requiring approximately 1,000 square feet (93 m²) or more
Projects We Generally Cannot Accept
Small residential remodels
Single bathrooms or kitchens
One-off color requests
Projects below approximately 1,000 square feet
Customers seeking an exact match for a small quantity of tile
Why Large Minimum Quantities?
Developing a new ceramic glaze is not simply changing a paint color.
Every custom color requires dedicated research, formulation,
test batches, kiln firings, production trials and quality evaluation.
These development costs are spread across the production run.
For this reason, custom colors are generally practical only for
large commercial projects.
Our Development Process
Review project requirements and target color
Evaluate technical feasibility
Create one or more laboratory glaze formulations
Produce kiln-fired test tiles
Evaluate color under multiple lighting conditions

Important Information
Ceramic glaze development is an artisan and scientific process.
Color appearance may vary depending upon:
Clay body
Surface texture
Glaze thickness
Kiln atmosphere
Firing temperature
Lighting conditions
Viewing angle
An exact match to paint, fabric, stone, printed materials or digital
images cannot be guaranteed.
Development Fees
Custom color development requires significant laboratory,
design and production resources.
The development fee covers research, glaze formulation,
test production, kiln firings, evaluation and technical labor.
The development fee is non-refundable once work has commenced,
regardless of whether:
The desired color cannot be achieved exactly
The customer decides not to proceed
The project is cancelled
The project schedule changes
Additional samples are requested
Development Timeline
Custom glaze development is scheduled around normal production
and may require multiple laboratory and production firing cycles.
Lead times vary depending upon project complexity and current
production schedules. Expedited development is generally unavailable.
Before Requesting Custom Color Development
Please provide:
Project size (square feet or square meters)
Estimated tile quantity
Target completion date
Architectural drawings or specifications (if available)

Please note that minimum orders are reflective of the "Priced Per" attribute for the product. If you see your material is "Priced Per" Square Foot, then the minimum order of 100 would be Square feet. If the product shows a minimum order quantity of 20 and it is "Priced Per" Piece, then it would mean you need to order a minimum of 20 pieces.
